1st Annual Sets in the City Volleyball Tournament Serves Up a Success
|
HOUSTON, TEXAS, MAY 19, 2022— On April 29th, 2022, more than 60 players and spectators participated in the 1st Annual Sets in the City Volleyball Tournament at Third Coast Volleyball Club. The idea to build this event was developed by Dustin Adler and Quentin Kiper of Griesenbeck Architectural Products, Inc for the purpose of bringing together architects and manufacturer representatives for networking outside of a traditional office setting. As Architectural Consultants, they uniquely understand the challenges involved in getting quality, fun time with colleagues, partner companies, and current and future customers. Players were invited to participate by one of eight sponsoring team leads, each representing different companies and areas of expertise – two from Griesenbeck Architectural Products and one each from ShawContract, OmniMax International (Fabral and Knotwood), Putterman Scharck & Associates, Daltile, KipCo (CS Gulf Coast), and Alpha Testing. The goal was to make it to the finals and to win a luxury staycation at the Marriott Marquis in Houston, TX – a prize with a total value of over $3,000. Then, of course, there are the bragging rights. The excitement of making it to the championship round was palpable. Ultimately, Shaw Contract’s Safe Sets team took home the gold. They beat KipCo’s Kraken team in a hard-fought final – all of the teams had played for a few hours before the big match. For everyone involved, there was no shortage of other fun to be had at Third Coast Volleyball, either. Attendees enjoyed food truck tacos, sports drinks, and an open bar to beat the heat. Drawings for door prizes including gift cards, outdoor game sets, and goodie bags rounded out the evening. If you missed this opportunity, don’t be alarmed. Quentin, one of the event organizers and a team coach, said the festivities will continue in the fall with a similar active networking event and that the volleyball tournament will be a new annual tradition each spring. Team leads are already working on details for the autumn activity, so stay tuned!
