Dustin Adler

Dustin joined Griesenbeck in 2015 and has been a hands-on resource for the architectural community ever since. His favorite project thus far is a Houston institution.

"One project that still stands out—and really inspired me early in my career as an Architectural Consultant—was The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. I was still relatively new at Griesenbeck, but they trusted me to develop design solutions for several complex McKeon fire shutters with egress. It was also my first real deep dive into the Building Code. At the time, I had no idea how often I’d find myself navigating Life Safety requirements, a topic that had barely been touched on in architecture school."

There's one lesson from early in his career that Dustin carries with him both personally and professionally. "'Be the first to educate!' As a father, I’ve learned the value of introducing new ideas and teaching my children before the world shapes their understanding. In the same way, I believe it’s essential in the professional construction world to share knowledge early—before misconceptions take root and incorrect industry standards become the norm."
Quite a bit has changed for the construction industry in the years since Dustin started at Griesenbeck. The biggest change Dustin has noted is the advent of virtual interactions as the norm. "The shift from in-person to online meetings driven by remote work has brought convenience and cost savings, but at the expense of interpersonal connection."
