Restoration Church Woodforest

RenaeOpen Space Design

The new Community Health Choice offices in Houston, Texas, have five motorized operable walls to maximize flexible use of the space.

Objective

To give the Restoration Church Woodforest congregation flexible options for using their worship hall.

Background

In early 2022, Restoration Church began working with Studio Red to develop Phase II of their Worship Center. The church was growing and needed additional room to meet the varied needs of its congregation, and the challenge was to keep the design aesthetic open while ensuring several distinct sessions could be held at once.

Solution

The Griesenbeck team installed five top-supported glass operable walls (it took 50 panels in total). These almost nine-and-a-half-feet tall Ava model glass walls can be configured in multiple ways – either fully retracted to allow for a continuous space or deployed to split the same 1,596 SF space into up to five separate rooms allowing different programs to run simultaneously. Each wall can create an enclosed space measuring roughly 17’ wide by 19’ long.

Result

A decade after its first worship service, Restoration Church now has new ways to engage believers in a welcoming, comfortable, and beautiful space. The opportunity to use a single space in different ways empowers church leadership to minister on multiple fronts to best meet the needs of their community.
