Objective
To give a unique, dramatic flair to the new 155,982 SF retail destination in the bustling Baybrook Mall area while also providing protection from the blazing Texas sun.
Background
In the second phase of construction for its Baybrook East project, owner Regency Centers sought to meet a need within the existing market for quality retail and dining options to consumers. The development includes 5 restaurants, a bank, a primary care doctor’s office, and spa and wellness centers adjacent to the local H-E-B (which has 2,600,000 visits annually!). The task was to make the space feel inviting and upscale to both locals and travelers alike.
Solution
Griesenbeck installed 84 total Construction Specialties Airfoil Lux sunshades ranging in length from 6 feet to 9 feet which provide LEED-certified energy-efficient, weather-resistant LED lighting. These sunshades regulate harsh direct sunlight during the day and serve to illuminate the storefront in a myriad of colors during the evening.
Result
In a feat demonstrating function and aesthetics can work together, the custom Construction Specialties sun controls will help draw customers to the site and keep them comfortable.
