Objective
The Santa Fe-based artist collective known as Meow Wolf needed natural daylighting in their new Houston location.
Background
Meow Wolf - self-described as “five exhibitions; one multiverse” - offers immersive art adventures at each of their installations across the United States. Visitors are encouraged to interact with artwork, and the Houston outpost offers international, state, and local artists the opportunity to have their work be a part of this choose-your-own-experience exhibit. The Houston theme offers guests an opportunity to imagine that a radio station has been transported to another dimension, and the design team added tubular daylights to give light to the space without adding thermal load to building support systems.
Solution
To offer natural light between rooms, Griesenbeck supplied and installed four 29”-diameter SkyVault units and 24” extension tubes to bring in maximum sunlight.
Result
Patrons of this new-age art experience can enjoy the beauty and functionality of Solatube daylights 28’ above the floor of their interdimensional trip in Houston – without experiencing the Houston heat.
