Meow Wolf Radio Tave
Meow Wolf – self-described as “five exhibitions; one multiverse” – offers immersive art adventures at each of their installations across the United States. The Houston theme offers guests an opportunity to imagine that a radio station has been transported to another dimension, and the design team added tubular daylights to give light to the space without adding thermal load.
Berry Center
The Richard E. Berry Educational Support Center opened in May 2006 to meet the community’s need for a multi-purpose center. The intent was to provide a center that could host graduations, sporting events, training sessions for students and staff, and food distribution operations. After nearly 20 years of use, the existing skylight needed to be replaced.
Harmony School of Innovation – Katy
Harmony Public Schools is an A-rated, nationally-recognized, and award-winning network of 64 public and tuition free schools across Texas focusing on STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) curricula. This project is the sixth campus for the Harmony Public School system in Fort Bend County, and it was important to educators and the design team to bring innovation into the space.
Post HTX
The renovation of the former Barbara Jordan Post Office in Houston faced challenges daylighting the southern quadrant due to historical building code restrictions. The solution was dependent on a skylight application to bring natural light to the interior during the day and to light the roof garden at night.
TAMU Blocker
The building had an old polycarbonate skylight that had degraded over time due to UV sun rays. Since this was a corridor space, and not very high up, we had to decrease the light transmission significantly to make this a comfortable space for students to study and get from once classroom to the other.
Methodist Hospital – Willowbrook
Original skylights were outdated and discolored. The existing system had leakage issues which affected the day to day activity in the area underneath.
St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church
The stewardship congregation was looking for a permanent home to worship. Once the building was in design there was an epiphany to emphasize a cross in a different way.
MAN Energy Solutions
MAN Energy Solutions is a premier manufacturer of energy equipment that provides engines powering more than half of the world’s shipping trade. KDW, Ltd. was hired to design and construct the new North America headquarters by combining two facilities in Houston and Deer Park into one.
New Process Steel
New Process Steel is a carbon steel processing and manufacturing company. They transitioned their office to an existing metal warehouse that was on their current site location. NPS asked to bring in high quality, natural daylight to their renovated office.
West Point Lincoln
Goree Architects began designing a project for Lincoln’s latest image program while utilizing Solatube as an effective solution to harvest free daylight. Griesenbeck was involved in the design process to specify a Solatube SkyVault configuration to prevent the hindrance of shadows cast onto the domes by rooftop mechanical equipment and screening.
