Harmony School of Innovation – Katy Posted in: Daylighting - Harmony Public Schools is an A-rated, nationally-recognized, and award-winning network of 64 public and tuition free schools across Texas focusing on STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) curricula. This project is the sixth campus for the Harmony Public School system in Fort Bend County, and it was important to educators and the design team to bring innovation into the space. Read More
Restoration Church Woodforest Posted in: Open Space Design - In early 2022, Restoration Church began working with Studio Red to develop Phase II of their Worship Center. The church was growing and needed additional room to meet the varied needs of its congregation, and the challenge was to keep the design aesthetic open while ensuring several distinct sessions could be held at once. Hines Headquarters at Texas Tower Posted in: Open Space Design - Hines - a global real estate firm - commissioned a 47-story, one-million-square-foot office tower in downtown Houston as both a site for its global headquarters and a reimagined office space. The Hines offices comprising levels 30 – 35 required an opening protective that would separate the space into sections of three floors or less in the event of a fire. Read More
Baybrook East Posted in: Exteriors - In the second phase of construction for its Baybrook East project, owner Regency Centers sought to meet a need within the existing market for quality retail and dining options to consumers. The task was to make the space feel inviting and upscale to both locals and travelers alike. Read More
Porsche Sugar Land Posted in: Exteriors - As one of the first such centers in the nation, indiGO Auto Group needed to be creative with its design of the new six-story, state-of-the-art Porsche destination. Space was limited but the mission required creating a beacon to Porsche lovers throughout Texas, and the garage and roof areas needed to match the vibe. Read More
Community Health Choice Posted in: Open Space Design - After over a quarter century of service to the community, it was time to upgrade facilities to better support their mission of “[improving] the health and well-being of underserved Texans by opening doors to healthcare and health-related social services.” The challenge was to maximize the use of the 73,240 SF footprint at the new location. Post Oak Plaza Façade Renovation Posted in: Exteriors - Levcor – the owner of Post Oak Plaza – envisioned modernizing Houston’s Uptown District through reusing an existing space to highlight longstanding businesses and to attract exciting new tenants. They redesigned existing façades, created a central gathering space, and improved walkability to drive traffic to the 128,770 SF of retail and restaurant space spread across three buildings. Texas A&M University Zachry Engineering Education Complex (EEC) Posted in: Open Space Design - Texas A&M University’s College of Engineering needed facility upgrades for its 2,500 undergraduate students. The all-new Zachry Engineering Complex would offer new classrooms, labs and design centers, green space, event spaces, and centralized learning stairs. The design called for a large atrium but the challenge of smoke control threatened to derail the open space design. Read More
Prairie View A&M University Engineering Classroom and Research Building (EnCARB) Posted in: Open Space Design - Prairie View A&M University's Roy G. Perry College of Engineering had not added new space in over 16 years despite being renowned as a top producer of some of the nation's most outstanding engineers. Their vision for a new building included a vibrant open space at the heart of the building but ran into challenges with life safety codes. Read More
The Ion Posted in: Open Space Design - Rice Management Company envisioned transforming the historic Midtown Sears Building into the heart of the new Innovation District - a place for startups and industry titans to meet and share ideas.
